Lee Richardson, Conservative MP for Calgary Centre, resigned today to take a job as principal secretary to Alberta Premier Alison Redford. Richardson leaves Parliament shortly before the government is scheduled to table legislation reforming the MP pension plan this fall. The Canadian Taxpayers Federation estimates that Richardson is expected to start collecting an annual pension of $79,408, good for a lifetime haul of $1,430,698 if he should live to age 80.
